Amidst a bustling London summers day last August, Retroflex set up base on the 3rd floor of Selfridges flagship store on Oxford street. A different home to our usual URL one, but one that we were nonetheless happy to have for the week.
As part of Depops much anticipated first physical UK retail space, we were handpicked out of 10+million Depop users and invited to exhibit some key Retroflex pieces available to purchase exclusively at the Designer studio department of Selfridges from the 8th August until 14th 2019.
Swaying along the revolving rail, was enough heat to rival that of the weathers outside. A 100 piece curated collection of Vintage one-off Fendi pieces, rare designer items and classic repurposed collector’s pieces spun in the centre of the pop-up space that visitors could control to view items individually – reflecting that of Depops online shopping experience. Mounted onto the walls were posters of each sellers background and story so far, which made for a more personal shopping experience between shopper and seller. It was valuable to have this physical immersive space, where we could connect with other sellers, industry influencers and staff alike that would not be possible virtually
For the Month of the August, the theme was entrepreneurship and Retroflex was one of the three sellers showcasing alongside @basementsix @thevaultmcr. The pop-up continued from August 2019 until October 2019, with three different sellers selected each week.
